Hawaii had been on our bucket list for a while, and when we finally made it to Disney Aulani Resort in Oahu, it was everything we hoped for and more. It is now my favorite deluxe Disney resort (Sorry Beach Club) Sun-soaked days, thrilling water slides, magical Disney character moments, and unforgettable island adventures—our family had the best time, and the kids are already asking when we can go back.

One of the things that made Aulani extra special was meeting rare Disney characters we’d never seen before. My daughter was beyond excited to meet Angel (Experiment 624) from “Lilo & Stitch” She is never out at the Parks so this was our only chance to see her! And of course, we couldn’t leave without saying hi to Stitch himself.

Another highlight was meeting Moana. Seeing her in Hawaii, where her story takes place, made it feel even more magical. She took time to chat with my daughter about wayfinding and the ocean, and she walked away feeling like she had just met a real-life voyager.

What made this trip so special was how it combined everything we love. The magic of Disney, the relaxation of a tropical escape, and the adventure of exploring a new place. Aulani had just the right amount of Disney touches while still letting us fully experience the beauty of Hawaii. And stepping beyond the resort gave us a chance to see Oahu’s incredible beaches, landscapes, and culture.

We left feeling like we had the best of both worlds. Lazy pool days filled with Disney fun, plus unforgettable island adventures. If you’re thinking about a trip to Oahu, I’d say go for it. Whether you’re chasing thrills on a water slide, floating in the lazy river, meeting Moana, or standing in the middle of a real-life Jurassic Park set, it’s a trip your family will never forget.
